(AFP) – WASHINGTON — “Lebanon has a moral obligation to support the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and should use upcoming elections to reject “the apologists of Assad’s butchery,” a senior US official said…. 

“No one outside of Syria understands the brutality of Bashar al-Assad better than the Lebanese. No one outside of Syria has more of a stake in the outcome than the Lebanese,” Feltman told a Lebanese American reception late Monday.
Feltman said that the Cedar Revolution had not yet achieved a Lebanon “free of Assad’s manipulation” and of Iranian influence and urged Lebanese to look ahead to parliamentary elections due next year.
“I hope those Lebanese who are here with us today, along with millions of others back home in Lebanon, will again show the world how they can transcend fear — in order to use those 2013 legislative elections to defeat the remnants of the Syrian occupation and reject the apologists of Assad’s butchery,” he said….”

Top Arab Diplomat: "Saudi military equipment is on its way to Jordan to arm the Free Syrian Army,"

(AFP) – DUBAI — Saudi Arabia is delivering military equipment to Syrian rebels in an effort to stop bloodshed by President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, a top Arab diplomat said on Saturday.

“Saudi military equipment is on its way to Jordan to arm the Free Syrian Army,” the diplomat told AFP on condition of anonymity. “This is a Saudi initiative… details will follow at a later time.”

Palestinian killed after Israeli soldier stabbed

Emirati authorities have cancelled the residencies of dozens of Syrians for taking part in a protest against their regime outside the consulate in Dubai, Syrian activists told AFP on Sunday.  Two of them have already fled the Gulf country, arriving in Cairo on Saturday, after “all efforts failed to convince Emirati authorities to retract the decision,” one of the activists said.”  Just watch. The lousy Syrian National Council would not dare say a word in protest.

The Man With the Golden Gun

According to the fighters who captured Qadhafi, the deposed Libyan leader was wielding a golden or gold-plated handgun when caught, shown in the AFP photo at left. Given Qadhafi’s flamboyant dress styles, a gold-plated taste in personal defense weapons may seem logical, and as this Atlantic article notes, other gold weaponry was found in his compound in Tripoli.
